Below are the key dates for the formal test window. Please note no requests for exceptional leave will be authorised during these times.
2022/23 academic year
Reception baseline assessment
Schools must complete the reception baseline assessment for each child in the first 6 weeks after they enter reception.
Key stage 1
The key stage 1 tests should be administered during May 2023.

Key stage 2
The key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Tuesday 9th May to Friday 12th May 2023 (Change due to the Coronation Day on Monday 8th May 2023).
- Tuesday 9 May 2023: Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar – Paper 1
- Tuesday 9 May 2023: Spelling Punctuation & Grammar – Paper 2
- Wednesday 10 May 2023: English Reading
- Thursday 11 May 2023: Maths Paper 1 (Arithmetic)
- Thursday 11 May 2023: Maths Paper 2 (Reasoning)
- Friday 12 May 2023: Maths Paper 3 (Reasoning)
Multiplication tables check
Schools should administer the multiplication tables check within the 3-week period from Monday 5 June 2023.
